Rob Murphy

Rob Murphy is an influential figure in basketball coaching and sports management, previously serving as the Assistant General Manager for the Detroit Pistons. With a significant background in coaching, he has held various positions, including President & General Manager of the Motor City Cruise (The Detroit Pistons G-League Club) and Head Coach at Eastern Michigan University (EMU).

During his 10 year tenure at EMU, Murphy was recognized for his leadership and success, notably receiving the 2012 MAC Coach of the Year award and achieving a high graduation rate among his players. Rob departed EMU as the 2nd winningest coach in the programs history. Before his roles in the NBA and at EMU, Rob gained vast experience as an assistant coach at Syracuse University under Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, contributing to some of the program’s most successful seasons. Rob’s coaching career also includes time at Kent State University and in Detroit Public Schools, Central HS and Crockett HS respectively, where he began shaping young athletes’ careers.

Beyond the court, Murphy is deeply committed to community service through the Rob Murphy Foundation, established in 2014. The foundation focuses on empowering youth in underserved areas by providing educational and recreational opportunities. Murphy’s personal story and professional journey are captured in his autobiography, “DEEP,” which recounts his experiences from a challenging upbringing in Detroit to his achievements in basketball at every level of the sport.

Michael Higgins

He began his career in 1987 at ProServ, working alongside legendary agent David Falk. In 1990, Michael co-founded FAME with Falk and Curtis Polk, where he oversaw all basketball operations and led a division representing NBA greats including Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Allen Iverson, Juwan Howard, and more than 45 additional NBA players.

Under his leadership, FAME became a global powerhouse in player representation—managing more first-round draft picks, lottery selections, and NBA All-Stars than any other agency in the world. Michael’s influence and impact earned him repeated recognition on Sporting News’ list of the “100 Most Powerful People in Sports” throughout the 1990s.

In 2000, FAME was sold to SFX Entertainment for $125 million, a landmark deal that helped establish SFX as a dominant force in sports before its acquisition by Clear Channel Communications. Nearly a decade later, in 2009, Michael launched The Higgins Group, a boutique agency designed to provide highly personalized service to a select roster of clients.

Today, Michael has partnered with Mike Harrison of Harrison Sports Management (HSM) to bring his unmatched expertise to HSM’s expanding Basketball and NIL divisions. His focus remains the same: delivering the highest level of representation while maximizing his clients’ success, marketability, and long-term financial security.

Sydney Smith

With over 20 years of experience in the sports industry, Sydney Smith has built a reputation as a leader and innovator. She began her career managing the renowned grassroots basketball program D.C. Assault, Inc., where she made history by orchestrating landmark deals with Under Armour, setting a new standard for sponsorships in grassroots sports. After transitioning out of grassroots basketball, Sydney shifted her focus to developing and marketing brands, with a special emphasis on collegiate athletic departments. She recognized early on that in sports, the biggest brands would ultimately dominate.

Sydney then turned her attention to the ever-evolving landscape of college basketball, specifically coaching and the Name, Image and Likeness space. Under the mentorship of a seasoned industry leader—then the VP of Coaching and Broadcasting at a top sports agency—she immersed herself in the intricacies of the coaching and NIL industries. This experience allowed her to support numerous coaches in job preparation and placement and assist numerous high school and college athletes regarding NIL. Her extensive network and industry expertise positioned her perfectly to launch Good Favor Sports, a boutique agency specializing in representing college basketball and football coaches, athletes, and sports executives.

Sydney has since partnered with Mike Harrison of Harrison Sports Management, LLC (“HSM”) to combine their efforts, expanding their reach and enhancing services for coaches and executives across all sports and focus on the NIL market place and contracts.

A proud graduate of the University of Louisville, Sydney continues to shape the future of sports through her entrepreneurial spirit and deep industry knowledge.
